Research Committee on
Rational Choice RC45

Main theme
Rational choice theory on inequality and other challenges

Programme Coordinator
Yoshimichi Sato, President of RC45, at ysato@sal.tohoku.ac.jp

Local Hosts
Fernando Aguiar, Instituto Estudios Sociales Avanzados, Córdoba, Spain, faguiar@iesa.csic.es and Leon-Mejia, Instituto Estudios Sociales
Avanzados, Córdoba, Spain, aleon@iesa.csic.es

The program focuses on how rational choice theory can advance the study of inequality and other challenges in contemporary society. Rational choice theory could shed a new light on inequality and uncover the emerging process of inequality. Rational choice theory might be modified to explain the process exactly. In sum, the dialogue between rational choice theory and inequality and other challenges advances the frontier of rational choice theory and provide feasible solutions to actual social problems. Papers with this intention are welcome to the program.

RC45 will award USD500 to a student who submitted the best paper: RC45 Best Student Paper Award
