Seminar – for invitees only
The 'shape' of sociology in a post-modern, post-social, globalizing world is a matter of deepest concern to the ISA as a professional organization as well as to individual sociologists. In this pre-Forum seminar, a select group of theoreticians and practitioners from different continents will focus on some of the central issues, exploring if it is possible to develop a collective point of view about how the discipline is evolving. To conclude the seminar discussions, a panel of participants will present a Special Session of the Forum, relating to the 'Foreseeable Future of Sociology'. The presentations throughout the seminar and the discussions will be the basis for a publication and for on-going self-reflection in the framework of the ISA Research Council.
