PhD scholarship on Sustainability and Politics
Leuphana University of Lüneburg

Leuphana University of Lüneburg, foundation under public law, fosters the development of the junior scientific staff. Therefore the university offers 1PhD scholarship in the discipline of Sustainability and Politics with the focus on Transformative Policy-Making: conceptual and empirical perspectives at the faculty Sustainability, starting as soon as possible. The PhD research shall be focused on the emerging topic of “Sustainaiblity, health and demographic change” and contribute innovative insights into the social dimension of sustainability.

The invitation to apply for a scholarship is targeted at extraordinarily qualified young academics working in the above-mentioned research field or in a related discipline. The scholarships will first be awarded for one year and will be extended upon request, adding up to a maximum of two years. Periods with alternative financial support prior to the scholarship will be taken into account.

The scholarship is worth € 1,300 monthly (plus child benefit, if appropriate).

The scholarship also serves to explicitly qualify the recipient in the field of teaching. This implies giving tutorials and providing other advisory services for the Leuphana College and the Leuphana Graduate School for up to ten hours per week.

In addition, the scholarship entails enrolling in the relevant doctoral program at Leuphana University of Lüneburg as well as continuous and active participation in the program of study and the research
colloquium. Admission to and enrollment in the doctoral program have to be finalized at the beginning of the scholarship term at the latest. Application for the doctoral program is to be submitted separately (see Leuphana Graduate School’s website for admission requirements and application form). The prospective scholarship holder will be expected to have his or her place of residence in Lüneburg. German language skills are expected.
