New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), the first comprehensive permutation of a Research One and liberal arts campus to be operated abroad by a major American research university, seeks an engaged and exceptional social science scholar and academic administrator to serve as its next Dean of Social Sciences. This critical portal of NYUís Global Network University is looking for a leader to succeed its distinguished founding Dean, Ivan Szelenyi.

Since its inaugural class was admitted in the fall of 2010, NYUAD has quickly emerged as a center of research, scholarship, teaching, and service within NYU. New York University in Abu Dhabi offers a model for combining a Research One enterprise with an exclusive liberal arts college unsurpassed in its global reach. The recently admitted Class of 2016 consists of 151 of the worldís most talented students from 66 countries. NYUADís faculty and leadership team consists of scholars who thrive in diverse and dynamic communities and who are passionate about the prospects of a multi-campus, international research and educational experience.

The Dean of Social Sciences will be expected to embrace the unparalleled opportunity to assess and attract exceptionally talented and ambitious faculty, while navigating the needs and preferences of a top research-intensive university and a small, highly selective undergraduate college within the context of NYUís Global Network University. The Dean must demonstrate a sensitivity, flexibility, and affinity for cross-cultural work and diversity, both intellectual and cultural.
