Report on the JSN conference
Multi-faceted nature of collaboration in contemporary world
Nova Gorica, Slovenia, November 2011
On November 7th and 8th, 2011 the Junior Sociologists Network, together with the School of Advanced Social Studies Nova Gorica, Slovenia, held the international conference on cooperation titled: Multi-faceted nature of collaboration in contemporary world, as discussed during the JSN Business Meeting at ISA World Congress of Sociology in Gothenburg, 2010.
The two-day conference started with a video greetings by the ISA President Michael Buroway and JSN president Wiebke Keim, followed by a keynote speech delivered by Professor Thomas Luckmann. The organizers attempted to be innovative; the afternoon being reserved for the so-called “Socrate's walk on knowledge and cooperation”, combining a walk through the city of Novo Mesto with the discusion on possible ways of continuing cooperation among participants and generation of ideas for activities of the JSN.
The second day of the conference was dedicated to panels, discussing networks, web, governance issues and knowledge transfer. The organizers will also make sure that the edited book with the papers presented at the conference shall be published – thus leaving a lasting mark.
Sincerely,
Dolores Modic, Tamara B. Valič and Urša Lamut
