Legal Notice and Privacy Policy

Purpose of the Association 

The International Sociological Association is a non-profit association for scientific purposes in the field of sociology and social sciences. It aims to represent sociologists everywhere, regardless of their school of thought, scientific approaches or ideological opinion, and to advance sociological knowledge throughout the world.

In order to achieve its objectives, the ISA´s activities focus on: developing individual and professional (institutional) networks between sociologists and other social students worldwide; fostering the international distribution and the exchange of information referring to the advances taking place in the world of sociology; facilitating and promoting investigation and education at an international level; organising world-wide meetings and congresses; and promoting publications that support ISA activities.

The ISA is a member of the International Social Science Council with the status of the non-governmental organization in formal associate relations with UNESCO and special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Its members come from 167 countries.

Privacy Policy

In accordance with Article 5 of the Spanish Personal Data Protection Act 15/99 of December 13, 1999, the user accepts that personal data provided, through forms and/or use of the ISA website, will be used only to carry out the services provided by the International Sociological Association.

If the user provides personal information through the filling out of forms, electronic correspondence, the ISA website, information requests, or through other forms of communication with the ISA, s/he expresses full consent that the ISA may use this information with the purpose of management of the association and agrees to receiving information on ISA activities, congresses, events, publications and brochures.

Similarly, participants of ISA events, groups of the ISA, including the Executive Board, Research Committees, Thematic and Working Groups, Collective Members, and those promoting the work of ISA also provide their full consent.

All the personal data collected will be incorporated into a file, property of the International Sociological Association. Any user may exercise his/her right at any moment to access, rectify, cancel or withdraw personal data by making a signed written request, including full name and a copy of an accredited document of identification (passport, etc.) to INTERNATIONAL SOCIOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION, Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology, University Complutense, Campus de Somosaguas, 28223 Madrid, Spain, isa@isa-sociology.org.

The user, by sending electronic communication to the Research Committees, Thematic Groups, Working Groups or to any other contact found on this website, consents to the use of his/her personal information by the recipient.

The International Sociological Association complies with current legislation on the protection of personal data and contact details of its users (Spanish Personal Data Protection Act 15/1999 of December 13, 1999), and holds these in accordance with the highest levels of confidentiality.
