ISA World Congress of Sociology
Request for Proposals for hosting the XXII ISA World Congress of Sociology in 2031
The Executive Committee of the International Sociological Association (ISA) invites ISA collective members and public universities to submit a proposal to host the XXII ISA World Congress of Sociology in 2031.
The first stage of the Proposal process is an Expression of Interest (EoI), which should be submitted to the ISA Secretariat by 30 March 2026. Candidates will be invited to give an online presentation outlining the key features of their EoI proposals to the ISA Executive Committee in April 2026. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to submit a Full Proposal by 10 September 2026.
Hosting the ISA World Congress of Sociology is an extraordinary opportunity to welcome thousands of sociologists from around the world and to place your country, your academic community, and your institution at the heart of global sociological dialogue. By bringing together researchers, educators, and students from all continents, the Congress creates a unique space where ideas, cultures, and perspectives converge.
For the local sociological community, this is a chance to strengthen international collaborations, highlight national and regional scholarship, and inspire future generations of sociologists. For the host institutions and cities, it is an occasion to showcase their commitment to knowledge, cultural diversity, and academic excellence on the global stage.
The ISA warmly invites proposals that combine vision and capacity, ensuring not only professional delivery but also the spirit of hospitality, inclusivity, and intellectual exchange that defines our World Congresses.
