Call for Integrative Sessions
Integrative Sessions are semi-plenaries that engage a debate on the common theme of the XXI ISA World Congress of Sociology, “Global Sociology in Turbulent Times”.
Integrative Sessions can be proposed by:
- A combination of at least three (3) units, including: Research Committees, Working Groups, Thematic Groups (RCs/WGs/TGs), National Associations, or ISA collective affiliated members.
- In this context, one of the proponents may be a Research Section of the Korean Sociological Association (KSA).
- No more than two submissions should be made by the same unit (RC/WG/TG, National Association, KSA Research Section).
- RC/WG/TG participation in an integrative session is in addition to the regular sessions’ allocation.
Proposals for integrative sessions must be sent by filling out the Integrative Session Submission Form (1), with the following information:
- the name of each of the participating RCs/WGs/TGs or Association (at least three)
- the name and e-mail of the President (or equivalent) from each unit, who is signing the application
- the name and e-mail of the session organizer (up to three, may differ from contact persons from each unit )
- title of the session
- in a maximum of 250 words, a description of:
- the problematic which will be addressed
- how the participating units will contribute to an integrative reflection about the XXI ISA World Congress of Sociology Theme
- the names of the proposed speakers, their affiliations, and their topics
- A PDF document with the session proposal with the signatures of the President (or equivalent) of each participating unit (RC/WG/TG, Association, or KSA Research Section)
The Integrative Sessions will be held from 17:00h - 18:45h, Monday, July 5 to Friday, July 9, 2025.
The deadline for submitting proposals will be September 28, 2026, 23:59h UTC/GMT, and the selection of a maximum of 10 proposals will be made by the Scientific Committee.
The selection decision will be communicated by October 15, 2026.
Selection criteria
Qualification Criteria:
- Proposals must meet the required composition of participating units, as defined above, including the minimum number and eligible types of units.
- The proposed session must align with the theme of the XXI ISA World Congress of Sociology, “Global Sociology in Turbulent Times”.
Quality Criteria (graded on a Likert 5-point scale):
- Geographic Diversity of the Speakers
- Gender Balance of the Speakers
- Relevance of the topic to the Congress Theme
- Diversity of RCs/WGs/TGs & Associations
