Why are you working on this topic? Could you share an experience, a fact, or a person who made you get engaged in that research?

Y-T Li and JCL Liu: We have been interested in experimental methods and labor market discrimination. Hong Kong’s diverse ethnic environment and its ongoing tensions with China present a perfect case for us to investigate the issue from employers’ view.

What would you emphasize about your academic trajectory? Can you highlight which have been your academic positions, universities, awards, departments and research centers?

Y-T Li and JCL Liu: We grew up in Taiwan and pursued advanced studies in the United States.

Yao-Tai is a Lecturer of Sociology in the School of Social Sciences at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Prior to the current position, he was an assistant professor of sociology at Hong Kong Baptist University. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego.

John is an Associate Professor of Sociology at National Taiwan University. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at Occidental College in Los Angeles and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School. John received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
